The Tampa Bay Rays are on of the most competitive baseball teams in the American League East division in the Major League Baseball.
TAMPA BAY RAYS HISTORY
The Tampa Bay Rays were inaugurated in the MLB in 1998 as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. The team had acquired prominent players in the MLB and have made many trades that have helped build the team’s morale, including Wade Boggs.

The team changed their name, logo, uniforms and team colors in the 2008 season. Since the name change the team has emerged as a true contender in their division and in the MLB. It now has players like Evan Longoria, whom won the 2008 Rookie of the Year Award.
AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS
The Rays hold two the 2008 and 2010 American League Eastern Division titles, and won the American League Championship title in 2008. One of the most memorable moments in franchise history was on August 7, 1999 when Wade Boggs tallied his 3000th career hit on a home run, the only player to ever do so. Boggs retired the next season, but got his number retired and was inducted in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2005.
